The Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) is the main national law that deals with Australia’s workplace relations system. It sets out minimum conditions under the law, unfair dismissal and unlawful termination protections, general protections, rules governing the creation of awards and industrial agreements and regulates other aspects of the industrial relations system. Most of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) applies to national system employees only. But some parts of it apply to state system employees as well. All national laws can be accessed from the Federal Register of Legislation’s website at www.legislation.gov.au or just click on our link here: Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth).
