Training contract

In Western Australia, a training contract is an agreement between an employer and an apprentice or trainee which is registered with ApprentiCentre. A training contract outlines the responsibilities of both the employer and the apprentice or trainee in relation to the work and training that leads to a particular qualification.

A training contract operates in addition to any laws, awards, industrial agreements or employment contract that apply to the employee. An employer is not legally allowed to pay an apprentice or trainee the reduced apprentice or trainee wage under an award or industrial agreement unless a training contract has been registered with ApprentiCentre.
